What is Spring Zing 5K? 

The Spring Zing is a fun-filled 5K run and 1-Mile Walk that begins and ends at Shady Grove Elementary School in Blue Bell, PA.  The 5K course takes you along wooded rolling hills in the neighborhoods nearby.  Last year, more than 400 people completed the 5K and an additional 300 people completed the 1 Mile Walk.

This event has become a national leader in supporting children’s fitness and raising money for education both locally and overseas. By combining a commitment to fitness with a unique fundraising campaign, Shady Grove and the Spring Zing have attracted local and national media attention. The event has been featured in Runner's World magazine and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the school’s physical fitness program received the American Running Association’s Youth Fitness Honor Award in June 2005.  The race has also received both local and national television coverage on multiple occasions.

The 2008 Spring Zing Raised Money For:

• Shoes for the 240 students of Shady Grove Ethiopia
  
• Track scholarships for needy students in suburban Philadelphia
  
• Educational activities at Shady Grove Elementary in Ambler, PA
